Spring is finally upon us, and I don’t know about you, but to me it feels long overdue! Every year around this time I find myself starting to breathe a little easier with the added daylight and ever increasing sunshine. Revisiting last year’s episode about optimism, new life, and love did my heart some good — and I hope it hits the spot for you as well.
The full run-down is below, but I wanted to draw your attention to a couple highlights. First and foremost, the application deadline for the annual Shirley Martin Scholarship for Young Songwriters is fast approaching! Applications are being accepted until April 15th, and are open to songwriters age 14-19 in 14 different Indiana counties. There is a $500 cash prize, and all entries will receive feedback on their original song. Check samisong.com for more details!
Second, the poem featured during this show is from John O’Donohue:
When love awakens in your life, in the night of your heart, it is like the dawn breaking within you. Where before there was anonymity, now there is intimacy; where before there was fear, now there is courage; where before in your life there was awkwardness, now there is a rhythm of grace and gracefulness; where before you used to be jagged, now you are elegant and in rhythm with your self. When love awakens in your life, it is like a rebirth, a new beginning.
Acoustic Blend airs Saturday, April 9 at 8pm on WBAA AM 920 in Lafayette / West Lafayette, and streaming live on wbaa.org. The playlist and original show notes are linked below. ‘Til next month!
