Every November my thoughts turn to Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday) and gratitude. How much we have to be thankful for!
As such, our theme this month for Acoustic Blend is simplicity, gratitude and contentment. November (for me) is also a month of blustery weather, warm chili, clear nights, the reluctant acceptance of snow and ice, and ... Zach Winters. We'll start the hour with his song "I Don't Want This Job" (wait, what was my theme again?) and explore the many facets of thankfulness.
Our featured artist this month is my friend Cliff Ritchey from Markleville, Indiana, and his "Song for Indiana" gives me all the feels for the people I love and miss around the world. We'll let Cliffy illustrate how love is connected to gratitude, and I'll gush a little bit about my amazing niece. After that we'll talk a bit about letting go (I might know a good song for that) and I'll share a poem by my friend Stephen Smith, "The River of No Agenda".
This month's bonus track is the Zach Winters album Monarch, mainly because it seems to find its way into my rotation about this time every year, and it's the perfect music for a cozy, cloudy November day.
Acoustic Blend airs this Saturday, November 14 at 8pm on WBAA AM 920 in Lafayette / West Lafayette, and streaming live on wbaa.org. You can view the playlist below once the show airs and at barrettmyers.com. Til next month!
